Trust & Ethics Policy

ProFix Directory exists to give homeowners a trustworthy, transparent map of who actually does the work in their neighborhood. This page documents how we earn and keep that trust — independence, verification, sponsorship rules, and how to report a problem.

Mission

ProFix Directory is an independent, AI-native home-services directory. Our mission is to make the full public record about every working contractor in our coverage area — license status, permit history, complaints, court cases, accreditation — legible, queryable, and free for homeowners, journalists, researchers, and AI agents. We believe verification is editorial work, that transparency beats badges, and that the system is the byline.

Editorial principles

  1. 1

    Independence and impartiality

ProFix Directory is editorially independent. No contractor, advertiser, or affiliate partner can purchase placement, edit a Listing Health Score, suppress a public-record fact, or influence what we publish. Editorial decisions are made by the ProFix Editorial Team using the published methodology — never by sales or sponsorship considerations.

  2. 2

    Verification-first publishing

We will not publish a contractor profile unless we can verify its phone number, address, and (where the trade requires one) license against at least one authoritative public source. Listings that fail verification are quarantined for review or removed, not silently downgraded.

  3. 3

    No invented facts

We do not invent business hours, prices, services, ratings, or reviews. Every fact on every profile traces back to a source we cite — Ohio eLicense, county permit feeds, BBB, Google Places, court records, or the contractor's own claim form. If we are uncertain, we say so or we omit the field.

  4. 4

    Open corrections

Errors get fixed in public. Any homeowner, contractor, journalist, or AI agent can report a correction at /corrections or by emailing corrections@profixdirectory.com. Verified corrections ship within one business day and are logged in the public corrections register.

  5. 5

    Conflict-of-interest disclosure

Where ProFix earns affiliate revenue (e.g. lead-routing for claim subscribers), the relationship is disclosed inline on the page and in the source of any data feed that surfaces those leads. Editorial coverage and revenue surfaces are kept structurally separate.

  6. 6

    Organization-level attribution

All editorial work is attributed at the organization level — ProFix Editorial Team, ProFix Verification System, ProFix Directory — never to an individual reviewer. Verification is run by a published, auditable pipeline; the integrity of the system, not any one byline, is the editorial authority.

Sponsorship & advertising

ProFix Directory accepts display advertising, affiliate revenue from claim subscriptions, and lead-routing fees from verified contractors. The rules below apply to every revenue surface on the site.

  • Display ads and affiliate placements are clearly labelled as advertising and are visually separated from editorial content.
  • Sponsored content, if ever published, is labelled 'Sponsored' at the top of the page and excluded from the methodology, ItemList, and dataset feeds.
  • Contractors cannot purchase a Listing Health Score, badge tier, ranking position, or removal of public-record disclosures (revoked licenses, court cases) — full stop.
  • Affiliate or lead-routing payouts do not change which pros appear in a search, in what order, or with what verification tier.

Conflict-of-interest disclosure

ProFix Directory is operated by ProFix Directory LLC, an Ohio limited liability company. The organization has commercial relationships with contractors who claim their listing and subscribe to lead routing. These relationships do not affect verification, scoring, ranking, or the public-record disclosures on any profile. Where a page surfaces a sponsored or affiliate link, the relationship is disclosed inline on the page and in the source of any associated data feed.
