California Privacy Rights
Last updated: 2026-06-08
This notice supplements our general privacy policy and describes how California residents may exercise their rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA).
1. Categories of personal information collected
In the past 12 months ProFix Directory may have collected the following categories of personal information about California residents (Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.140(v)):
- Identifiers — name, email address, postal address, telephone number, IP address.
- Customer-records information — payment method tokens via Stripe (we do not store full card numbers).
- Commercial information — leads purchased, claim purchases, refund history.
- Internet activity — pages viewed, referring URL, browser type, device, and interaction events.
- Geolocation — approximate (city / ZIP) location derived from IP, or submitted ZIP for lead routing.
- Inferences — preferences and needs inferred from submitted job description and trade category.
We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information as defined in CCPA § 1798.140(ae) beyond standard authentication credentials.
2. Sources of personal information
- Directly from you (lead submissions, contractor signup forms, support emails).
- From your device automatically (server logs, analytics cookies).
- From public records (Ohio Secretary of State, state license boards, BBB, U.S. Census, OSHA, state and county permit feeds).
- From sub-processors strictly to operate the service (Stripe, Resend, Twilio).
3. Purposes of use
- Matching homeowner leads to relevant contractors.
- Operating the directory, processing payments, sending receipts and notifications.
- Detecting and preventing fraud, abuse, and duplicate submissions.
- Aggregate analytics on which trades, cities, and pages drive value.
- Complying with legal obligations and enforcing our terms of service.
4. Disclosures and "selling" or "sharing"
We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do disclose information to sub-processors that operate the service on our behalf (see the general privacy policy for the full list).
In the past 12 months we have not sold or shared personal information of any California resident under the CCPA/CPRA definitions, including residents under 16. We have no actual knowledge of selling or sharing personal information of consumers under 16 years of age.
5. Your California rights
- Right to know. You may request the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the sources, the purposes, and the categories of third parties with whom we share it.
- Right to delete. You may request deletion of personal information we have collected from you. See /data-deletion for the fastest path — we respond within 30 days.
- Right to correct. You may request correction of inaccurate personal information.
- Right to opt out of sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of. The Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information link below is provided in case our practices change.
- Right to limit use of sensitive personal information. We do not use sensitive personal information for inference beyond what is necessary to provide the service.
- Right to non-discrimination. We will not deny you service, charge you a different price, or provide a different level of quality for exercising any of these rights.
6. How to exercise your rights
Use any of the following:
- Submit a request at /data-deletion — covers know, delete, and correct.
- Email privacy@profixdirectory.com with the subject "California privacy request" and the right you are exercising.
- Opt-out signal. We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signal as a valid opt-out request even though we do not currently sell or share personal information.
7. Verification and authorized agents
We will verify your identity before fulfilling a request (typically by matching the email or phone number on file). You may use an authorized agent — the agent must provide written permission signed by you, and we may still ask you to confirm the request directly.
8. Response timelines
- Acknowledgement: within 10 business days.
- Substantive response: within 45 calendar days (extendable by 45 days if necessary).
- No fee for the first request in any 12-month period.
9. "Shine the Light" (Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.83)
California residents may request, once per year, a list of categories of personal information disclosed to third parties for those third parties' direct-marketing purposes. We do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct-marketing purposes.
10. Minors
We do not knowingly collect personal information from California residents under 16. If you believe a minor has submitted information, contact us and we will delete it.
