Accessibility statement
Last updated: 2026-06-08
ProFix Directory is committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of technology or ability. We actively work to increase the accessibility and usability of our website and to adhere to many of the available standards and guidelines.
1. Conformance target
We aim to conform with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities and more user-friendly for everyone.
The guidelines have three levels of accessibility (A, AA, and AAA). We have chosen Level AA as the target for ProFix Directory. We also follow Section 508 of the U.S. Rehabilitation Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Title III as guiding standards.
2. Measures we take
- Semantic HTML. Every page uses landmark elements (
header, main, nav, footer) and a logical heading order so screen readers can navigate predictably. - Keyboard navigation. All interactive elements (links, buttons, forms, dropdowns) are reachable and operable with a keyboard alone. A visible focus indicator is present on every focusable element.
- Skip-to-content link. A "Skip to content" link is the first focusable element on every page so keyboard and screen-reader users can bypass repeated navigation.
- Alt text on images. Every meaningful image carries a descriptive
altattribute. Decorative images usealt=""so assistive tech ignores them. Editorial photographs include caption context where useful. - Color contrast. Body text targets a contrast ratio of 4.5:1 or higher against its background; large text targets 3:1 or higher. A dedicated high-contrast mode (toggle in the footer) provides 7:1+ for users who need it.
- Resizable text. The interface uses relative units (
rem) so browser zoom up to 200% does not break layouts. - Forms. Every form input has a visible label, programmatic
forassociation, descriptive error messages, and clear required-field indicators. - ARIA landmarks. We use ARIA roles and
aria-label/aria-labelledbyattributes only when semantic HTML is insufficient. - Captions and transcripts. Any audio or video published on the directory carries captions and a text transcript. Where audio is auto-generated, we mark the page accordingly.
- Motion-reduced. Animations honor the user's
prefers-reduced-motionsetting and degrade to instant transitions.
3. Known limitations
We are not perfect. Areas we are still improving:
- Some embedded third-party maps and review widgets may not meet WCAG 2.1 AA. We mark these with a fallback text alternative when present.
- A small percentage of older legacy pages may carry placeholder photos without rich descriptive alt text. We replace these in our weekly audit pass.
- PDFs published before 2026 may not be fully tagged. Newer downloads use tagged-PDF and accessible reading order.
4. Compatible technology
ProFix Directory is designed to be compatible with:
- Recent versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari on desktop and mobile
- VoiceOver (macOS and iOS)
- TalkBack (Android)
- NVDA and JAWS (Windows)
- Voice Control on macOS, iOS, and Windows
5. Report an accessibility issue
If you encounter any accessibility barrier on ProFix Directory, please tell us. We treat every report as a P0 fix and respond within 5 business days.
- Email accessibility@profixdirectory.com with the URL of the page, a description of the issue, and the assistive technology you were using.
- Use the general contact form and put "Accessibility" in the subject line.
We aim to acknowledge every report within 2 business days and have a remediation plan within 5. Critical issues (blocking access to a core flow) are fixed within 14 days; lower-priority issues are scheduled into the next sprint.
6. Formal complaint
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Justice Civil Rights Division.
7. Assessment approach
ProFix Directory ran an internal self-assessment of WCAG 2.1 Level AA on 2026-06-08. We use automated tooling (axe-core via our CI pipeline) on every pull request and re-test a sample of templates manually each quarter. A formal third-party audit is on our 2026 roadmap.
