2026 statewide rankings - ProFix Editorial Team - Updated quarterly

Best Ohio contractors by trade — 2026 rankings

Start with the trade, then drill into the ranked list. Each page uses the same transparent ProFix method: Trust Score first, recent permit activity second, then public review depth, tenure, and profile evidence for close calls.

TL;DR

  • There are 37 statewide best-by-trade pages, one for every ProFix trade.
  • Rankings are built from Trust Score, license or registration evidence, 12-month permit count, review depth, tenure, and published business data.
  • A high rank means stronger public evidence, not the cheapest quote or fastest appointment.
  • Empty or sparse trades stay visible with caveats so ProFix does not invent a top 10 before the data supports it.

How we rank

The ranking starts with the same ProFix Trust Score used on contractor profiles: license-linked verification when Ohio publishes it, profile completeness, review depth, published hours, service-area evidence, specialty depth, tenure, and permit-verified status. We then apply the published algorithm: recent permit count breaks close calls because it is harder to fake than marketing copy.

Updated quarterly

ProFix refreshes these pages quarterly as public rosters, permit exports, and profile evidence change. A contractor can move up when new license evidence, permits, hours, service coverage, or tenure signals appear. A contractor can move down when public evidence goes stale or a better documented competitor enters the dataset.

Use the ranking, then verify

These pages are a starting point for high-intent research. Open the trade hub for the wider directory, use /compare for side-by-side contractor filtering, and check /verify before signing. The buyer guides explain what to ask before deposits, permits, warranties, and change orders become expensive.
