GAF Master Elite is the highest GAF-issued contractor credential and is awarded to a limited slice of roofing companies nationwide. It signals that the contractor has cleared GAF's licensing, insurance, reputation, and training requirements and can issue GAF's stronger warranties.
In Ohio, where roofing is not state-licensed, manufacturer credentials such as GAF Master Elite, CertainTeed SELECT ShingleMaster, and Owens Corning Platinum carry more signal than they would in a state with statewide roofing licensure. They are not a license substitute, but they are real.
